Prospects and challenges for the multilateral trading system in the context of the COVID‑19 pandemic

Abstract

The current problems of the WTO activity, including new challenges related to the COVID‑19 pandemic, are considered. The reasons for the erosion of the multilateral system of trade regulation are investigated and the need for its preservation and development as a tool for the favorable development of world trade is justified. Possible steps on the part of the multilateral system to mitigate the consequences of the pandemic and improve its effectiveness in the vent of new external crises are outlined.
