Mapping Prevailing Ideas on Intellectual Property: Preliminary Findings from a Survey

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to identify current trends in IP thinking of professionals who influence trade policy negotiations, and to look into factors which contribute to views of these professionals: country of birth, years spent in university, area of professional interest, participation in capacity-building programs. Also difference between developed and developing countries in respect of IP protection views is analyzed to help to understand origin of minimalist and maximalist approach to IP protection policies.
